Offline Webpage Spell Checker for Chrome
Open a live, staging, or localhost page, click LexiLint, and run Check Spelling. The spell check uses dictionaries stored in the extension, so page text stays on your device. Optional AI grammar is separate: it requires internet access and your own provider key.
🤖 New: LexiLint for AI Assistants
Use LexiLint's spell and grammar checking directly in Claude Desktop, Cursor, OpenAI Codex and other AI assistants that run local Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
How Offline Spell Checking Works
Dictionaries Stored in the Extension
The free tier includes US and UK English variants. Premium adds Spanish, French, German, Polish, Russian, and Turkish. The selected dictionary runs on your device. Premium languages need an online licence check about once a day and keep working offline for up to 48 hours after the last check.
On-Demand Page Scan
Click Check Spelling to compare visible page text with the local dictionary. LexiLint highlights possible misspellings on the rendered page without uploading that text.
AI Grammar Is Optional and Online
Grammar checking is a separate BYOK feature. It requires an internet connection and sends the page's visible text directly to the provider configured by the user. Provider terms and charges apply.
